The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) is recommending State Representative Sondy Pope of Mount Horeb for reelection in Wisconsin’s 80th District.
“Representative Pope cares deeply about public education and has come forward time and time again to support students and stand up for educators,” said Betsy Kippers, teacher and WEAC president. “She has earned our support.”
“As Ranking Member Chair of the Assembly Committee on Education, Representative Pope has been a stalwart advocate for neighborhood public schools,” Kippers said. “She is a constant voice for funding public education, high standards and respect for professional educators.
Representative Pope, currently serving her seventh term in the State Assembly, has also served her school district as an education advocate and member of the school board legislative committee. She believes that it is vital that Wisconsin supports an educational system which will produce productive, responsible citizens.
Assembly District 80 includes Belleville, Mount Horeb, New Glarus, Oregon, Verona and the many rural villages and townships that surround those communities.
WEAC, the state’s largest association of professional educators, amplifies the voices of public school teachers and support staff to ensure all students have high-quality public schools.
