Wisconsin students need legislators who stand up for their public schools, teachers say
The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) is recommending Nanette Bulebosh for state representative in the 27th Assembly District.
“Nanette Bulebosh will work to restore local school funding and reestablish Wisconsin’s reputation as a leader in preK-12 education,” said Ron Martin, an Eau Claire eighth grade teacher and WEAC president. “She shares the values of public school educators.”
Bulebosh, of Elkhart Lake, announced her candidacy earlier this summer. This is her first bid for the Wisconsin Legislature. She has taught in public and private high schools and colleges in Wisconsin, Indiana and Wyoming, and also served two terms on the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School Board. She has made support for public education a top issue in her campaign.
“Nanette Bulebosh is committed to ensuring all children have the same opportunities and stopping the flow of public money to subsidize unaccountable private school vouchers that fail 40 percent of the time,” Martin said. “She will work with educators and residents to support neighborhood public schools.”
In making their recommendations for the state Legislature, WEAC members focused on areas including support for public schools, giving employees a voice in school decisions and professional respect for the role educators have in keeping our communities strong.
