Waupun fifth-grade teacher Kathy Calder, a WEAC Region 5 member, believes business education should not be reserved just for older students.

β€œAn introduction to entrepreneurship at a young age will help students understand how to start a business and possibly spark an interest in future business ownership,” she says in an article in the Beaver Dam Daily Citizen and WISC News. “This unit highlights the importance of a business plan and what an entrepreneur should do to begin a business.”

Calder’s Math Enrichment class combines math education with a business focus that includes the stock market and entrepreneurship.

β€œI feel it is important for students to learn about running a business,” Calder said.
