Monona Grove math teacher Todd Andersen-Goldsworthy is the latest Wisconsin educator to be named a WEAC-Badgers Outstanding Educator. He will be honored at the October 30 UW volleyball game versus Maryland.
Andersen-Goldsworthy has coached girls volleyball at the freshman and varsity levels and has served as the advisor for the Monona Grove High School Ski and Snowboard Club.
“Teaching to me is so much more than just curriculum.,” he said. “Yes, I love math and I love the chance to inspire my students to find beauty in mathematics, but it is the relationships I form with students that mean the most to me. To be able to build confidence in a student and help them grow as individuals from freshman year until they are walking across the stage at graduation, that is what keeps me coming back each day.”
In his sixth year of teaching, Andersen-Goldsworthy is a leader in the Monona Grove Education Association. “I’ve seen how strong educators are when we are supporting each other,” he explained. “Our union advocates for students and educators to make our schools the best that they can be. That mission is something I am proud to be a part of.”
