WEAC congratulates our latest winners in our Book Bucks Contest, Sun Prairie teacher Katie Trachler and Northland Pines teacher Stacy Tomaszewski. Trachler, a fourth-grade teacher, selected books to help her students develop a love of reading. Stacy Tomaszewski, special education teacher, is excited to get books her students can take home, because many don’t have that opportunity.
“I am very excited about offering these new books to my students,” “Trachler said. “As an avid reader, I strive to offer a wide variety of books in my classroom to help my students to develop their own love of reading. Many of the books I chose are higher-level books to meet the needs of my growing students. I also included several bilingual or Spanish books since I have a new student that doesn’t speak English.
“Although I have been teaching for 15 years (mostly in 3rd grade), this is my first year in 4th Grade,” she explained.” Teaching is such a powerful profession! I don’t know if there is another job where one person can reach so many other people and truly make a difference in their lives. Every day is a new adventure and I love what I do! I love to see my students grow (academically, socially, and emotionally) throughout the year. It is a humbling experience, but I feel truly blessed to be able to do this job each day!
Tomaszewski, is the special education teacher for Land O Lakes Elementary School and a charter middle school. “I plan to use these books as resources for the projects my middle school students may be doing as well as having books that are readable for all my students,” she said. “I want my students to be able to take these books home with them, some don’t have this opportunity… I have always wanted to help kids be the best they can. I truly enjoy my job, and I am part of WEAC because of the support and benefits the organization offers educators.”
