The Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association (MTEA) has partnered with PyraMax Bank in Milwaukee’s Third Ward to draw attention to Milwaukee Public Schools student artists during Gallery Night and Day on July 25 and 26.
Artwork by Milwaukee Public Schools students in kindergarten through grade 12 is displayed at PyraMax Bank, 318 N. Water St. The work will remain there until late September.
The work is part of the MTEA and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee-sponsored “Celebration of Art,” a special opportunity for students to display their work, and for families to celebrate art achievement. The work showcases MPS student’s talent and demonstrates the importance of providing art classes to all students during the school day.
Sue Pezanoski-Browne, chairperson of the MTEA Art Educators Committee, said, "We’re grateful to PyraMax Bank for lending us their exhibit space. They clearly understand and support the need to maintain strong art programs in our public schools. Because of their collaboration with us, our art students have an exciting venue to showcase their creative accomplishments.”
PyraMax is hosting a special reception for the student artists, their families and teachers on Saturday, July 26, 10 to 11 a.m. as part of Gallery Night and Day.
The Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association, affiliated with WEAC, is a labor union representing more than 8,000 teachers and other education professionals in Milwaukee’s public schools.
