Peggy Wirtz-Olsen, a Marshfield High School English teacher, is an 18-year educator. Before teaching in Marshfield, she taught art in Iola-Scandinavia and English and photography in Port Washington.

She has served as president of WEAC Region 2 in Central and Northern Wisconsin and served as the membership chairperson of the Marshfield Teachers Association. She also served as the president, vice president, and secretary of the Port Washington-Saukville Education Association and as president of the Iola-Scandinavia Education Association. Wirtz-Olsen has been a delegate to the National Education Association for five years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and her master’s degree from Concordia University.

As WEAC vice president, Wirtz-Olsen focuses on strengthening the collective power of Wisconsin’s urban, rural and suburban public school and technical college employees. She believes that together, we can accomplish great things and create a brighter future for Wisconsin. As a leader of Wisconsin’s largest union, she takes a collaborative approach to policy and programming so the state association listens and responds to its educator-members.

Wirtz-Olsen chose leadership in WEAC to encourage educators to be strong advocates for public education, helping them find their voices to amplify what is best for students and schools.
