Congratulations to Green Bay teacher Korri Kersten, the latest winner of our WEAC Badger Red for Public Ed promotion! The honor goes to WEAC members in appreciation for their dedication to students. Recipients are treated to a UW Badger athletic event.
Korri, who has been a first grade teacher at Langlade Elementary School in the Green Bay Area Public School District for six years, will get VIP treatment at the January 19 UW Badger men’s basketball game against Michigan at the Kohl Center in Madison.
“I have been a dedicated teacher throughout my career,” Korri said. ” I love watching the students grow throughout the school year. I love my job, and I love being a positive role model for my students.
Korri is the leader of her school’s Spotlight Committee and has the opportunity to plan monthly Family Night activities with her colleagues.
“I enjoy working with the staff at Langlade because they are a very caring and supportive group of educators,” she says. “I am currently working towards my Master’s Degree in Reading and I am enjoying the new perspective I am getting on teaching reading in my classroom.
“I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in children’s lives,” Korri says. “I initially thought that the education that I provide to children would make the most impact on them, but I am finding out that being a consistent and caring person has a lot more impact on children.
“I want to be a teacher students look forward to seeing every day; to be a reason that they want to come to school. I became a member of the Green Bay Education Association to make connections to other educators and to work with them to advocate for the best interests of our students.”
