Longtime WEAC Executive Director Morris Andrews dies

Morris Andrews

Morris Andrews, who served as WEAC Executive Director from 1972 to 1992, died Thursday. He was 83. Christina Brey, Public Affairs Director for the Wisconsin Education Association Council said:

“Morris Andrews came to Wisconsin in the mid-1970s and led the state’s public sector union movement, securing a long period of labor peace as he worked to build a strong middle class through assertive salary and benefit negotiations. His work after leaving the Wisconsin Education Association Council also leaves an imprint on the city of Madison and the state of Wisconsin, and he will be dearly missed. Morris lives on in our movement as a fierce advocate on behalf of public educators, a strong believer in public education, and a tireless advocate for students. His legacy is one that lives today, and will continue for decades, in our union.”
