Award for Teaching Excellence
Presented jointly by WEAC, the NEA Foundation and the National Education Association;
this award recognizes, rewards and promotes excellence in teaching and advocacy for the profession. It also honors public education and the dedicated members of WEAC.

All current members of WEAC: Teachers, Education Support Professionals, and Higher Education Faculty and Staff

What Does the Selected Nominee Receive?
The selected nominee will receive a $1,000 award from WEAC. Our state selected nominee will also become part of the national process. To that end, the selected nominee and a guest will receive an expenses paid trip to the NEA Foundation’s Annual Salute to Excellence in Education Gala in Washington, DC. Five nominees from throughout the country will be selected for The Horace Mann Awards for Teaching Excellence and receive a check in the amount of $10,000. In addition, the NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence recipient, selected from the five, receives $25,000 in cash and a commemorative gift.
