This year, May 5-9 is national Educator Appreciation Week. With this special attention focused on educators, there is the opportunity to rally public support for public schools and the people who work in them.

During Teacher Appreciation Week and every week, Wisconsin Public School educators go above and beyond to keep students learning, safe and supported. WEAC and the National Education Association provide resources that members and public education advocates can use during Educator Appreciation Week. We are encouraging members of the community to thank an educator who makes a difference in their life by posting a thank you note. WEAC’s Thank a Teacher page is live throughout the year, but is extra active during the annual Educator Appreciation Week.

Using resources from the NEA and elsewhere, WEAC has curated an Educator Appreciation Week Toolkit which includes some recommendations for amplifying Educator Appreciation Week locally.

Turn Appreciation into Action

This year, more than ever, we are encouraging the general public to let educators know just how appreciated they are by taking action: Write to Congress, learn how to make your voice heard locally, or share a message on social media, tagging @NEAToday, and using #ThankATeacher.

Teachers deserve fully funded classrooms, fair wages, support staff, and respect. This Educator Appreciation Week, here is how we can help get it:
