March 29, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm
The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks
MTEA is pleased to welcome Dr. Jeanne Theoharis, author of The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks.
This is a two-part session. First session, on Wednesday, March 29, from 5:00-6:45pm, MTEA will virtually screen the documentary The Rebellious Life of Rosa Parks.
Second session, on Thursday, April 13, from 5:00-6:15pm. Members will have the opportunity to log into a virtual participant in a talk with author Jeanne Theoharris.
Register to learn more about the life of Rosa Parks, participate in a virtual discussion, and receive a lesson plan you can use with students this fall.
“Presenting a corrective to the popular notion of Rosa Parks as the quiet seamstress performed a single act that sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott that birthed the modern Civil Rights Movement, Jeanne Theoharis provides a revealing window into Parks’ politics and decades of activism. She shows readers how the movement radically sought — for more than half a century — to expose and eradicate the racial-caste system in jobs, schools, public services, and criminal justice and how Rosa Parks was a key player throughout.”
The first fifty MTEA members to register will receive a free copy of the new YA adaptation, The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks Adapted for Young People (12+), and the teaching guide. The first fifty will be emailed to pick up their book.
Please register below for the session you want to attend, and links will be emailed the morning of the session.
