National Board Support Sessions
MTEA members seeking National Board Certification are invited to support sessions. Must be enrolled as a National Board candidate or renewal candidate. Registration is required for all sessions, please use the form at the end. All sessions will be held at the MTEA building. These presentations may change based on interest and need of candidates.
Standards, Accomplished Teaching, and the 5 Core Propositions
This session will dive into the National Board standards, the Architecture of Accomplished Teaching, and the 5 Core Propositions of the National Board. This presentation will be from 5:00-6:00, followed by a presentation focused on Writing for National Boards from 6:00-7:00 and time for questions and collaboration.
Writing for National Boards
Participants will learn about descriptive, analytical, and reflective writing during this session. This session will include strategies for making sure you are correctly addressing the prompts. This presentation will be from 6:00-7:00, following the Standards, Accomplished Teaching, and the 5 Core Propositions presentation.

Overview of Components 2-4 – A 45-minute presentation for each component
This session will focus on three components and orient participants on the application in practice.

- Component 4–Effective and Reflective Practitioner

Continued Support on Understanding and Answering the Prompts
In this session, participants will review how to answer prompts, explore the types of writing, and work on incorporating the Architecture of Accomplished Teaching/5 Core Propositions/Content Standards. There will also be support for candidates with more targeted questions regarding specific components. Mentors will be available to read candidates’ writing.
