Supporting LGBTQ+ Students
LGBTQ+ students are often subjected to discrimination and bias in home, social, and school settings. A majority of LGBTQ+ youth have heard family members or peers make disparaging comments, and many report they cannot openly be themselves (Kahn et al., 2018). The recent coordinated policy and legislative attacks on trans youth rights are particularly disturbing. As educators we are compelled to create safe spaces for all of our students including LGBTQ+ youth. Join us Wednesday, May 25th for a virtual learning and strategy session with WEA Academy instructor and topic expert Melissa Bollow-Tempel. Melissa will provide an overview of her summer course. For more details on the full class please visit the WEA Academy’s website. Free for WEAC members.
