Secretary of State Godlewski Wins WEAC’s 2024 Friend of Education Award
Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski has been named the recipient of WEAC’s 2024 Friend of Education Award for her work on behalf of public education.
Godlewski accepted the award and addressed WEAC’s delegates at the annual WEAC Representative Assembly in La Crosse on April 20, 2024.
“Secretary Godlewski is the embodiment of support for public education and educators in word and deed,” said WEAC President Peggy Wirtz-Olsen. “She shares our mission. She believes in the work we do and she says so, loudly and proudly, every chance she gets.”
About receiving the award, Godlewski said, “I’m deeply honored to receive the WEAC 2024 Friend of Education Award. As the daughter of two public school teachers, advocating for our schools holds a special significance for me. Simply put: There is no Wisconsin without public education and there is no public education without public school teachers.”
