Vice President, Wisconsin Education Association Council
Kim Schroeder is a 4th grade teacher in Milwaukee Public Schools. Originally from Shawano, Kim graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a major in elementary education and a minor in mathematics.
Before being elected WEAC Vice President, Kim served as the WEAC Secretary-Treasurer and the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association President. During his term as MTEA President, the MTEA led the efforts to have Milwaukee Public Schools become a Sanctuary District, protecting the rights of undocumented students. The MTEA also became a vital cog in the community, partnering with Black Lives Matter, Voces de la Frontera, the Fight for $15 and a Union, Youth Empowered in the Struggle, Schools and Communities United, and many more groups. Together with these allies, the MTEA was able to defeat an attempted takeover of MPS after it was passed into law, saving the district from being privatized.
