on National Board Certification
National Board is the teaching profession’s vehicle for defining and recognizing accomplished teaching. Created by teachers for teachers, National Board Certification is a voluntary process to certify teachers against high and rigorous standards for what teachers should know and be able to do.
WEAC offices across the state provide members a number of valuable candidate supports including summer and early fall Jump Start sessions, access to online support through mynea360.org, face-to-face sessions, renewal support, a deep discount on an online support course through WEA Academy, writing retreats and a mentor match program. WEAC also provides an annual training opportunity for mentors. For more information about the professional and financial benefits of National Board Certification check out this video:
WEAC’s National Board Online Communities
A great way to receive reliable and timely National Board support is to connect online from the comfort of your home with mynea360.org. Candidates and NBCTs can post questions or seek advice in both a Wisconsin specific and a national group.
By joining EdCommunities you will have access to many other groups and resources too. You do not need to be a WEAC member to join NEA EdCommunities. However, there are private groups and resources available only to members.
Connecting with a Mentor
Virtually every Nationally Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) notes the importance of having good mentors guide them through the certification process. If you are a WEAC member and would like to be connected with one of your distinguished colleagues on this webpage who have volunteered to serve as a mentor please e-mail email@example.com. This one-on-one support is available only to members of WEAC.
