Nicki Vander Meulen is WEAC’s 2026 Friend of Education

Madison school board member Nicki Vander Meulen has been named the recipient of WEAC’s 2026 Friend of Education Award for her work on behalf of public education.

Vander Meulen accepted the award and addressed WEAC’s delegates at the annual WEAC Representative Assembly in Oshkosh on April 25.

“Nicki is truly a friend of public education and a frequent and vocal advocate for public schools and the people who work in them,” said WEAC President Peggy Wirtz-Olsen. “There are 2,800 school board members in our state, but there is only one Nicki Vander Meulen.”
