On behalf of WEAC and Aspiring Educators-Wisconsin Leadership, we invite you to submit a proposal to present at the Take Action! Aspiring Educators of Wisconsin Fall Professional Development Conference. This event connects preservice teachers with practicing educators, advocates, and community allies.
We’re especially interested in sessions on topics such as setting boundaries around workload and learning how to say no, racial and social justice, LGBTQ+ advocacy, political advocacy and understanding the role of politics in public education, responding to book bans and challenges, communicating with parents and building advocate coalitions, an introduction to bargaining around wages and benefits, and advocacy for students with special needs. That said, we welcome proposals on any topic where you can bring your own skills and knowledge to bear — our priority is strong sessions grounded in adult learning strategies.
Sessions are 60-minute breakouts, offered in five slots on Saturday, November 14 (8:00 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m.) and two slots on Sunday, November 15 morning (9:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.). If you are in your first 5 years of teaching, we urge you to consider serving on a panel discussion at 2:15 p.m.
Please submit proposals by August 31, 2026. A committee will make selections by September 20, 2026.
Presenters will be reimbursed the IRS mileage rate for roundtrip travel, and lunch will be served on Saturday. In the interest of fiduciary responsibility, no other compensation can be granted, and the budget does not include lodging for presenters.
